Our Story
From an allied paper for Home Science in 1988 to a full-fledged department driving research in corrosion inhibitors, geochemistry, and nanomaterials.
The Department of Chemistry started in 1988, offering Chemistry as an allied paper to students of Home Science. The Department of Chemistry itself was established in the year 2005, and in 2008 it introduced a certificate course in waste water treatment. The department later launched its PG programme, M.Sc. Chemistry, in 2018.
The thrust areas of research include corrosion inhibitors, geochemistry, nano synthesis and polymer synthesis. Over the years, the department has produced 392 graduates, with alumnae occupying pivotal positions in colleges as school teachers, researchers, in industries, and in pharmaceuticals.
